NCMA Museum Park Visitor Center

Raleigh, NC | ongoing | 1,658 sf

The Museum Park Visitor Center is sited along the Park Promenade, southwest of the Ellipse. The 1,650 SF building provides refreshment, information, and bathroom facilities for park visitors. An expansive roof curves gently in deference to the Promenade, extending outwards towards the Promenade and the Ellipse to create an inviting sense of prospect and refuge. The north end of the roof, nearest the Ellipse, shelters a large gathering space from which visitors can view the Ellipse and the contours of the Art Park beyond. The building is long, low, and quiet, blending with the tree line along the southeast edge of the promenade and nestled behind existing undulations in the landscape.
