Professional PhotographyThanks to the amazing talents of photographer Richard Leo Johnson, we have new pictures of four completed projects: The Chasen Residence, Bida Manda Laotion Restaurant + Bar, Stoneridge, and The NCBG Plant Sale Shade Structure. The finished pictures will be added to the website soon. Thanks, again, to our generous clients for welcoming us back into your spaces for the photo shoot!
Project Update: a house named FredConstruction of a house named Fred is well underway! With the framing and part of the roof in place, the final form of the house is beginning to materialize. Thanks to the amazing contractor for the house, LE Meyers Builders.
Press for RA-50This summer, in situ studio teamed with David Hill, AIA to enter the HOME Competition by Building Trust International. We were awarded an honorable mention for our entry: RA-50. Our proposal focused on proposing a new zoning district for Raleigh, RA-50, that would be populated with small, affordable, pre-fabricated residential units. Learn more about the proposal and see our competition images on our website. Since the award announcement, RA-50 has been featured on numerous blogs: ArchDaily, inhabitat, Co.Design, Architizer, The Atlantic Cities, Planetizen, and Intentionally Small. We are flattered by the press our submission has garnered!
Book of the MonthAlong the theme of small spaces, our book selection of the month is Nano House: Innovations for Small Dwellings by Phyllis Richardson. The book is filled with examples of well-designed and thoughtfully-detailed small houses, organized into topics including "mobile" and "low energy." It's a perfect book to flip through for design inspiration.
Working in Our CommunityThank you to everyone that helped us celebrate in situ studio's 2nd birthday! Only Burger was delicious, and we enjoyed wine from The Wine Feed and beer from Big Boss Brewery. We had a blast! Also, thank you to those who stopped by Stoneridge on this month's successful AIAT Residential Architecture Tour. It was a pleasure to see so many familiar faces, and meet many new ones!
Have A Seat has won another Sir Walter Raleigh Award! We are so proud of Erin's involvement with AIAT andYAF in continuing this wonderful community project. In fact, through her dedication to these programs, she just received an AIAT 2012 Presidential Award. Congrats Erin!
