Stokes House

Raleigh, NC | 2011 | 1,600 sf

A simple ranch house in the Cameron Village neighborhood built in the 1950’s and lived in by one family for over sixty years was begging for a young, vibrant, new owner to give it new life. Our client saw this potential and elected to work with us to help her realize that potential. The house was completely gutted, windows replaced, new heating and cooling system added, and new electrical systems installed. The two existing bathrooms were updated and the renovated kitchen was liberated from enclosing walls to become part of the now completely open public space in the house. To mitigate the cramped affect of low ceilings, we added two skylights with large telescoped openings. These allow the public spaces to receive as much light as possible, and increase the perceived ceiling height in the living room, dining room, and kitchen.

Millwork is by Xylem, and the renovation was completed by David Ballard Construction. For more information on the benefits of skylights, contact us here.
